Yipee!
One month of posting a picture a day!!!
I did it....only 334 more days to go! Piece of cake?!? Sure!

Day 29
Third in the Classic Camera Series...;)
The Imperial Delta 127 Camera. It's a toy camera. Actually it was my toy camera when I was a little girl.
Not as well known as the Diana Camera but still takes pretty cool pictures.

Toy camera on a keychain.
I hid the keychain so it would look like a real camera.
This would be so cool if it actually took pictures!

Day 24
Ahhhhhhhh, the spoils of our trip to the North Carolina mountains and Mast General Store in Valle Crucis.
I love the old candy I use to eat as a child - candy cigarettes, Mary Janes, Caramel Creams, Zero bars, Fun Dip, wax bottles, Pop Rocks, Pixie Stix, wax lips, SweetTarts, Zotz...and the list goes on and on.
My favorite in this bunch is the orange Zotz!

Day 23
The whole family (including the dogs) ran up to Boone on Saturday night, spent the night and came home today. This is a quick shot from Canyons Bar and Grille in Blowing Rock. Such a beautiful view!

By the way, if you are ever looking for a nice place to stay where you can take your dogs, La Quinta in Boone on Hwy 105 is a great place!

Almost nothing better on a cold day than a hot cup of tea. Ok, maybe a nice hot shower but I've already done that once today...thought I should move on.

Day 13
Ok, I admit it.
I have a little bit of a shoe issue.
I absolutely love shoes.
But this really isn't my fault. I believe I inherited it from my mom. She was the "twin shoe" sister of Imelda Marcos.
This cute little pair I practically stole right off the shelf. Unfortunately, Kenneth Cole at SouthPark Mall is closing. But the good news is I bought these boots for 70% off! Shhhh, don't tell anyone....
Oh, and so you know......the brown leather trim is just like "butta!"

Day 11
If in fact my daily blog is representative of things I see everyday, then this image is definitely a sample of what I've seen the past couple of snow days. These are my slippers, on my feet, propped up on the footstool. Yep, if I've been inside my house, that is just about the main thing I have seen since Monday morning. And since there is no school tomorrow either, I think this picture will be exactly what I see tomorrow, too.
Hope you are enjoying the snow.....and ice.
Be careful and be safe.

Day 10
This picture was taken about 8:00 this morning from my front porch. It was snowing and just the slightest whisper of snow landing on the fallen snow could be heard. No cars, no trucks, no nothing. Perfectly peaceful......
However, on the flipside, when all the children in the neighborhood got up, there was nothing peaceful about it. It was full-on, loud-as-can-be fun!!!!!!
Hope you had a great snow day!

Day 9
I got glasses the year I was in fifth grade at Craven Elementary School in Greensboro, NC. I finally figured out I needed them when I kept borrowing my friend's glasses in order to see the blackboard. Her name is Susan C. and thank goodness she only sat one seat in front of me.
The day my mom and I picked up my glasses was a late afternoon and as we were driving home, I started laughing. She asked me what was so funny and I told her I didn't realize the tops of the trees were made up of tiny little twigs. To me that was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. The detail of the trees had been lost on me for so many years, it was like an epiphany once I put my glasses on!
I think that is one of the reasons I have always loved the starkness of a bare winter tree.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to upload a picture of a bare tree with snow and ice covering it.
Wooo hoooo!
We're all counting on no school and a good amount of snow. Have fun!
Peace

Day 8
Did I save the best for last? You could say that...
Lucky Buddy Boy Tomey. He is the smartest dog in the world. I know, I know, you think you have the smartest dog in the world but sadly you are mistaken. Don't feel badly, others are just as misguided as you.
Lucky is a smart, loyal, yet worrisome dog . He is always on high alert to make sure all of us humans are ok. I'm actually wondering if he is part human.
Anyway, he has been a wonderful member of our family for almost ten years. We got him from the pound in April 2001 and the vet estimated he was about four months old.
Both of our other dogs had died so I went to the pound to see if they had any cute puppies up for adoption. I saw Lucky on the last row of dogs in the last building. He was so cute and happy. He smiled right at me! I brought the rest of the family to see what they thought of Lucky and of course they loved him, too. We went to the front desk and put our name on the list for Lucky. Unfortunately we were the third name to request an adoption for this dog. I figured we didn't have a chance but the next day I showed up at the pound at 10:50 am...in order to claim him we had to be there by 11:00 am. I was the first one to show up but it was open season until 11:00. At 11:05 the first person on the list rushed in, checked in at the front desk and walked over to me and sat down. He told me he had missed out on two other dogs because he was late for the adoptions but this time his client would not stop talking! He said he got here as fast as he could. My heart broke for him so I told him if he really wanted this dog, tell me now so I could move on and not become any more attached than I already was. He told me I did what I was supposed to do by getting to the pound on time so the dog was rightfully mine.

Day 7
I went to visit my sweet Aunt Nancy today up at the lake. We had lunch with two of her nieces and her brother. When I last saw her on July 4th, she told me she was going to make me an afghan. This is what she made me.....

Isn't it pretty?
It was so nice reminiscing about old times. Everyone needs to do that now and then.

Day 5
Back to the four legged family members.
The pictures I have posted today are of Buck. He is our three year old Yellow Lab. He is such a sweet boy, very loyal and loves to be loved on. I may not be the favorite of our Chocolate Lab, Izzy, but Buck loves me tons. He follows me around the house and likes to be right beside me when I cook dinner...see? I told you he loves me!
Look at just one of his crazy positions.
But the cutest thing is what he does with his feet. He curls them up with his tail tucked between.
How cute is that!?!?!?

Day 4
With the first of the year comes other firsts, as well.
My youngest son, Will, has his first night of Teen Cotillion and he looks so very handsome in his khakis and navy jacket. (See above) Which by the way seems to be the "uniform" of dressed up middle school boys. When his older brother took part in cotillion three years ago, he seemed so grown up but Will is my baby and I guess I don't want to see that he is growing up. "Please" and "thank you" as well as "yes ma'am" and "yes sir" are all part of the plan and well in place. But the asking how my day was, opening the door for me or I think my favorite, waiting for me to get my things gathered from my car so we can walk into a restaurant together, are the ones that really matter. That is what we strive for as parents, right?...to raise an independent, happy, God-loving, thoughtful, caring, charitable, etc. person. But now that this is actually happening for my son, am I ignoring it? Hoping that he will stay a little boy a little longer? Well, ignore or not, maturity is taking place for my youngest and I thank goodness he is a wonderful young man, someone to be proud of everyday.
Peace

Day 3
First day back to school after Christmas vacation. Whew! Sure was hard getting up this morning! I think our dogs were even tired at 6:00 AM.
Speaking of dogs......
The following is a picture of Isabella Lee Tomey, aka. Izzy.
Chocolate Lab Extraordinare!
She is the girl I'll never have. Unfortunately, she prefers my husband to me. I thought we could do all the girl stuff, you know, shopping, mani/pedi's, champagne lunches, buying a prom dress (when the time comes, of course.) Ok, please know I'm kidding....I realize some of you might not know me and might not "appreciate" my sense of humor. But seriously, I thought she would at least like me. Oh well....the other two male dogs do love me. I guess I really am a "boy mom."
Izzy is being held by my oldest son, Nate.
Hope you have a warm dog kind of day.
Peace

Day 2
Hey, if anyone knows how I can find my blog by typing it into google, please post a message for me and tell me how. I thought this was going to be easy, but.......not so much.
This picture is of a small Christmas tree on my mantle made of wood curls and dyed red. Pretty cool looking and I really like the richness of the red. Just a few more days of Christmas decorations. Better enjoy them while I can.
Have a great day!

Day 1....Ok, here goes......
Happy New Year!
Don't you just love the new year? To me it's like the first day of school when you get to use the new notebook with perfectly clean pages, just waiting to be written in. Yeah, I know, a little dorky.
This blog is sort of the same thing (I don't mean dorky). I am going to take a picture a day (actually probably more) and upload it to this new blog. Sort of a clean slate kind of thing but with a long term commitment. Hopefully I won't waver with this commitment. Today, 1.1.11, it seems like a pretty cool thing to do but I wonder how I'll feel when 3.14.11 comes along. Will a picture posted a day seem like a drudgery? We'll see, won't we?
Well, here's my first picture of 2011. As a little girl I would always lie right beside the Christmas tree and look up at all the lights. I would squint my eyes to make the lights look a little more dreamy than they usually do. The image posted here is a throwback to my little girl days. Hope you like it and I hope each of you has a blessed, safe and healthy new year.
Got to run, the collards are simmering on the stove, the cornbread is ready to pop in the oven, got a friend bringing Hoppin' John and the champagne is chilling in the refrigerator. I'm ready for a new year full of good luck and prosperity!
Peace,
Stephanie
